We came about our name through a series of events that set us on our right course in life. I was working from my desk and planning for the day that I would be free to pursue a business, a sail loft and rigging business. I had met the then-owner of Beach St. Canvas & Rigging. He did work aboard my sailboat and helped me with new sails. We spoke about me joining up as a partner in my early retirement. Bobbi & I were having a hard time making the decision to strike out on our own, leaving a management position in a well-known stock brokerage firm where we served affluent, wealthy clients. The day came, I won't say it was unexpected but down-sizings never really are, and suddenly I was free to pursue a love that I have made a career
True North is the direction you find when you remove compass error from your compass reading. If you find the true north, then you can find your way anywhere, a world of endless possibility. Mariners have navigated this way for generations.
We love sailors because we too are sailors. We hope that you will give us a chance to serve you.

Child labor laws? BLAH! Morgan is our daughter (left) and has grown up as a "little sailor". Here she is putting sail numbers of a new main sail...just kidding. Some say she's named after Charlie Morgan....ummm...stranger things have been known to happen, but I uncategorically deny it (at this time). Alexander is our son (right) and has just said that covetted word, "Boat!" He's on his way to foredeck crew!

I loves sailing. There's no other way to put it. I finished first in H.R.Y.C.'s Gulfstreamer 2006 aboard Toki. I've raced the Gulfstreamer South in 2005 for a second place. I raced to Charleston with close friends aboard Copperhead in 2004. I was first in class and first over-all aboard The Last Mangas a Beneteau 36s7 in the 2007 First Coast Offshore Challenge. I was part of the thrid place, winning crew aboard Mac Smith's Twilight in the spring on 2011 in the Regatta Del Sol Al Sol (St. Pete - Isla Mujeres, Mexico) I enjoy racing actively in local and regional & international events. I enjoy cruising, off-shore racing in keel boats and racing yachts as well as racing my Melges E Scow and Johnson 18. I race every year in the fleet at Daytona's Halifax River Yacht Club's Commodore Cup regatta series, The Mug Race in Jacksonville (E Scow), events with the Smyrna Yacht Club, Halifax Sailing Association and much more.. You're likely to see me knocking about in anything that floats.

We pledge that we will continue to grow the business and adhere to the highest quality standards. We are active in the sailing community through Halifax River Yacht Club , the Halifax Sailing Association, E Scow Class Association and area and regional racing. We spend our free time aboard sailing or home being a family - when we are not working our fingers to the bone. We invite you to come visit our loft and learn more about us when you are passing through.
